I started my career with an Honours degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and spent 8 years working in private laboratories and leading hospitals in Malaysia. However, the long shifts took a toll on me, leading to a car accident caused by fatigue. This incident made me realize that a career in healthcare wasn’t the right fit for me especially as I was planning to start a family. Despite lacking qualifications and knowledge in corporate services, I embarked on a journey to pursue corporate secretarial services from scratch, much to the surprise of many.

At AKAL Corporate Advisors, I found supportive mentors who patiently guided and motivated me. Learning on the job, I gradually gained expertise and am proud to share that I am now a Licensed Company Secretary by Companies Commission of Malaysia. My journey proves that it’s never too late to change your career path if you’re determined and willing to persevere. Today, I lead a team of secretarial assistants and manage portfolios independently. My message to others is simple: follow your instincts, work hard and never give up on your aspirations. As a Business Development Manager at AKAL Corporate Advisors, you will be instrumental in driving growth and expanding our market presence. Your focus will be on identifying opportunities, nurturing partnerships and achieving revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and strategic partnerships, within and outside Malaysia.
  • Lead end-to-end sales processes, from prospect to deal closure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align business strategies.
  • Conduct market research to facilitate our decision-making.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling proposals and presentations.
  • Creating and implementing strategic business development plans to achieve company goals and targets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Development, Marketing or related field;
  • 7 years’ business development or sales experience.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and results-oriented.

Experience and understanding of company secretarial business is an advantage.

We are looking for an energetic and ambitious talent to join our growing team at AKAL Corporate Advisors as Assistant Company Secretary.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in corporate secretarial practice.
  • Conversant with the requirements and provisions of the Companies Act 2016 and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Have experience in attending Board meetings and preparing timely minutes of meetings.
  • Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both spoken and written.
  • Responsible for preparing and the annual statutory documents for lodgment with the authorities in a timely manner.
  • Mature, independent, self-motivated, responsible and with a good working attitude.
  • CGI (ICSA) qualification or CGI Grad (ICSA Grad) graduate (not compulsory).
